چکیده
Suday, Sptem er 5, 2016 RESULTS: The rate of SSO was 25.1%. There were 31 (16.2%) hernia recurrences overall, 13% developing by 3 years and 16.7% developing by 5 years. The most frequently used ADM was porcine (Strattice, 56.5%), followed by bovine (Surgimend, 31.1%) and human cadaveric (Alloderm, 10.9%). Significant predictors of hernia recurrence included bridged repair (HR=10.1, p<0.001), the use of human cadaveric ADM (HR=2.52, p=0.044), and elevated body mass index (HR=1.9, p=0.09). Subset analysis excluding bridged repairs and human cadaveric ADM cases demonstrated hernia recurrence rates of 8.2% by 3 years and 10.7% by 5 years follow-up.

Abstract: P4HB: The Ideal Mesh for Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction?
While a plethora of techniques are available for ventral hernia repair (VHR), these may fall short in the face of chronic near-total loss of abdominal domain. The Wittmann patch (Star Surgical, Burlington, WI) has been described in the literature as an acute method of maintaining abdominal wall integrity with planned re-laparotomy. However, we demonstrate that it is also an effective adjunct to...

Introduction: The use of abdominal zippers for temporary abdominal closure was devised to facilitate repeated explorations, allowing multiple cleansing of the peritoneal cavity and the detection and management of septic complications. In our study, an open abdomen using a sterile zip in a patient with gangrenous bowels and reanastomosis derived infection is reported. Case report: In this st...

Endometriosis is defined by the presence of ectopic endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. Despite being a lead cause of chronic pelvic pain and infertility, its clinical presentation can vary, leading to diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Extra-pelvic endometriosis is particularly difficult to diagnose owing to its ability to mimic other conditions. Endometrial tissue in a surgical...

Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a malignancy that arises from the mesothelial lining of the abdominal cavity and largely manifests as a diffuse process. There are two hallmark features of MPM. First, MPM may progress and present itself diversely among patients. While some patients may endure a quick tumor progression that is refractory to seemingly successful initial therapeutic cyto...
